A couple weeks ago, the miasma of rain and wintry weather abated for the weekend, and just in time for the celebration of the Chinese New Year. So Nate, O'Ryan, and I hopped the train into Chinatown and took some photos of the festivities.
I've always wanted to see the dragon dance, ever since I was a little boy. My wish was finally granted. Not only did I get to see the dragon dance, but also the lion dance; both trains of dancers cavorted about the closed-off road crowded with people, while a cascade of firecrackers scattered cardboard shrapnel all around. It was quite the sight. To be honest, I had more fun gallivanting with the guys than waiting in lines for the over-hyped dim sum restaurants and admittedly hokey cultural stage events. Shooting film on a beautiful day was the point of our trip and we did just that.
